Disabling the Canonical URL tag

By default, every generated page will include a canonical URL.  Canonoical URLs help avoid duplicate content issues with the search engine crawlers. This canonoical <link> tag is placed within the <head> section of your website HTML and looks like the following:

<link rel="canonical" href="http://www.yourdomain.com/page">

If you would like to disable the canonical URL tag for a Content Editor page, you can perform the following steps:

  1. Login to the Content Editor and navigate to the page you would like to disable the canonical URL for.
  2. Go to Content Editor->Current Page Settings->Show Properties and click on the "Extra <head> Tags" tab
  3. Set the “Automatically add Canonical URL tag to document <head> (advanced):” option to “No”.
  4. Update your settings
